Enhancing platform Migration with Process Intelligence
Challenge
The client relies on a complex legacy SAP application landscape. A high number of processes are managed, while only few processes are documented sufficiently.
The company needs to facilitate a SAP S4/HANA Brownfield Migration, whereas only limited documentation of the As-Is environment, and limited resources for Process Discovery and Testing are available.
These combined circumstances require an upscale of Governance to allow effective Project Management.
Our approach
- Process Discovery and validation provides necessary Governance & Risk Management, which is otherwise not sufficient due to knowledge, time and resource constraints.
- Using Process Mining, discover all processes in scope with data-evidence, instead of relying on manual Process Mapping.
- Process Intelligence gained through PM allows to validate the test scope and testing priorities, allowing to use available resources more efficiently.
- Validating processes and data during testing provides a solution to identify changes in SAP – BAPI adjustments as well as data-gaps that would otherwise be missed.

Gained Process Intelligence critically enhances Governance, Risk Management and Testing Strategy, allowing for efficient and resourceful Project Management.
Efficient Quality Assurance
Testing scope can be validated, limited testing resources can be allocated efficiently, prioritizing relevant and impactful processes. Data-gap identification is possible by comparing as-is and new environment.
Process Discovery
Process Mining allows to discover all processes with data-evidence, much faster and more reliable than manual Process Mapping, while concervinc scarce SME resources.
Rationalization Map
Discovered and prioritized processes as well as recorded BAPI changes allow for further targeted rationalization after completion of the migration project.
